Manas
Manas is the legendary hero who united the scattered Kyrgyz tribes and namesake of one of the world's longest epic poems. The Kyrgyz trilogy 'Manas, Semetey, Seytek,' inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List, tells of tribes united into one nation. Tellers of both sexes and all ages recite it, often after a prophetic dream, in near-trance performances that can run up to thirteen hours.
