Mangus (Mangadhai)

monster · Mongolia · Central Asia

Mangus (Mangadhai) are the multi-headed chaos-monsters of Mongol epic tradition, gigantic ogre-like beings often bearing 15, 25, or even 100 heads, with iron bodies, fangs, and claws. They devour livestock and people and battle the epic heroes, yet their souls are hidden outside the body in an animal or object, making them nearly immortal until the hidden weakness is destroyed.
