Touni Minwi
Touni Minwi (Creole 'Naked at Midnight') emerged during the 1994 Cyclone Hollanda blackout. A frightful, partially clothed figure visiting homes at midnight, it triggered mass hysteria across Port Louis and Lallmatie. Linked to Lougarou (werewolf) tradition, blending French loup-garou and African spirit beliefs. Documented in Mauritian media (1994–95) as a 'social contagion' phenomenon.
