Mbona
Mbona is a legendary rain-bringing prophet and martyr from Chewa and Mang'anja mythology of Malawi. Unlike purely mythical figures, Mbona may be based on a historical figure who lived around the 16th century. According to tradition, Mbona possessed extraordinary magic powers: he could bring rain during droughts, create wells of water in sandy lands, cause forests to appear where none existed, and hide from his enemies by transforming into other creatures such as guinea fowls.
