Mellyng (Mellified Man)
The mellified man (mellified mummy) is a legendary remedy from Arabic and Chinese sources, famously recorded by Li Shizhen in the Bencao Gangmu, in which willing elderly men were steeped in honey until their bodies dissolved into a curative confection. Though almost certainly fanciful, the tale circulated along the Silk Road as an emblem of extreme preservation and folk medicine.
