Mellyng (Mellified Man)
The mellified man (miren, 'honey person') is a legendary Arabian medicinal preparation recorded by Li Shizhen in the Bencao Gangmu (16th century): a very old man, fed only honey until death, sealed in a honey-filled stone coffin, and after a century sold in pieces as a remedy for broken bones and wounds. It is folk-medical legend spread along the Silk Road rather than a living creature.
