Merger is the foundational epic hero of the Nanai people of the Amur River region, a powerful warrior-shaman in animal-decorated armor who can transform into tiger, bird, or fish. He combines martial prowess with shamanic magic, undertaking spirit journeys across multiple worlds to protect his people. His kind of hero is preserved in the Hezhen Yimakan tradition (UNESCO Urgent Safeguarding).
