Mishebeshu
Mishebeshu (Mishipeshu, Mishibizhiw) is the Underwater Panther of Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) tradition: a great horned water being, part panther and part serpent, with copper scales and a spiked tail, dwelling in the deeps of the Great Lakes. It drowns the unwary, raises floods and guards underwater copper, standing as the eternal foe of the Thunderbirds of the upper world.
