Mishebeshu
Mishebeshu (Mishipeshu, Mishibizhiw) is the Underwater Panther of Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) tradition: a great horned water being, part panther and part serpent, with copper scales and a spiked tail, dwelling in the deeps of the Great Lakes and rivers. It drowns people, causes floods and guards underwater copper; it is balanced against the Thunderbirds, which fight it from the upper world.
