Mngwa
Mngwa (Swahili 'strange one'), also Nunda ('fierce animal'), is a Tanzanian cryptid: massive grey-fawn cat taller than a lion, leaving no tracks. Swahili tales (Steere 1870, Velten 1907) depict it as a sultan's pet growing into a man-eater—the 'Swallowing Monster' motif (ATU B.11.2.3.1) widespread in Bantu/Malagasy regions. Featured in Lang's Violet Fairy Book (1901).
