Mokele-mbembe

dragon · Central African Republic · Central Africa

Mokèlé-mbèmbé (Lingala: 'one who stops the flow of rivers') is the same cryptid as mbenga-or-mok-l-mb-mb, here attributed to 'Congolese' culture. Described as a sauropod-like creature in the Likouala swamps, it became a focus of creationist expeditions from the 1980s onward. No specimen, photograph, or trace has been verified.
