Moko Jumbie
The moko jumbie is a towering, stilt-walking ancestral spirit of the Caribbean, and Saint Vincent preserves the oldest written record of the tradition: William Young's 1791 account of 'Moco Jumbies' among the island's Black Caribs, who performed in costumes blending African motifs with women's petticoats and dresses.
