Mora
A nocturnal spirit that causes sleep paralysis by sitting on the chest of sleeping victims, suffocating them and draining their life energy. In Slovak belief, mora is not a demon but the soul of a living woman who leaves her body at night while her husband sleeps. She travels invisibly as a shadow or pressure, tormenting neighbors and relatives. Victims wake unable to move or speak, feeling a crushing weight on their chest—a phenomenon now understood as sleep paralysis In Slovakia folklore, this figure is known among the Slovakia people.
