Mothman
Mothman is a modern American cryptid of Point Pleasant, West Virginia: a gray, man-sized winged being with glowing red eyes, first reported in Nov 1966 near the abandoned TNT munitions site. About a hundred sightings followed before the 1967 Silver Bridge collapse killed 46 people; John Keel's The Mothman Prophecies (1975) made it a portent of doom. Skeptics cite a misidentified sandhill crane.
