Mountain Spirits
Not independently attested as a Navajo spirit-class of 'mountain spirits' who control weather and avalanches. Navajo mountain tradition centers on the Mountainway ceremony (Dsilyídje Qaçàl), whose hero Dsilyi Neyaani was sheltered by Holy People dwelling inside mountains. The Mountain-Spirit dancers (Gaan) belong to the Apache, not the Navajo. The recorded traits appear derived from speculation.
