Mouse Spirit
Mouse Spirit is a small but crucial helper spirit in Arapaho mythology. In the story of the Release of the Buffalo, a young man on a vision quest learned from Mouse Spirit that the buffalo were hidden in a cave beneath a mountain, guarded by a powerful spirit. Mouse Spirit revealed the cave entrance to the young man and taught him the songs needed to open the cave. With these songs, the young man opened the cave and the buffalo stampeded out, covering the plains. Mouse Spirit proves that even the smallest creatures possess important knowledge and power
