Mundugumor

spirit · Kenya · East Africa

Not independently attested in Kenyan folklore. Mundugumor is a people and language of the Yuat River, Papua New Guinea—documented by Margaret Mead (1930s) for 'rope' kinship and aggression studies. No cultural link to Kenya. This is a misattribution of the PNG ethnonym. Kenyan highland madness spirits are plausibly Kikuyu 'ngoma' possession or Maasai 'oloi' diviners.
