Nûñnë'hï
Nûñnë'hï is James Mooney's spelling of Nunnehi, the Cherokee word for a race of immortal spirit people, 'those who live anywhere,' who dwell in the mountains and forests of the old Cherokee country. Usually invisible and kindly, they sometimes appeared to warn their people, and during the Removal they were said to have sheltered Cherokee families in a cave whose door closed against the soldiers.
