Naiye' (devouring monster)
Naiye' is the devouring giant of White Mountain Apache tradition recorded by Pliny Earle Goddard in 1910. In the tale, the giant swallows the people's world; the twins born to the Sun's maiden then kill the monster, and from the Sun they receive the name Naiyenezgani, 'Monster Slayer.' The story is part of the origin cycle of the White Mountain Apache.
