Nakhoda Manis
Nakhoda Manis is a central figure in Brunei's most famous folklore, the legend of Jong Batu. He was a wealthy sailor who refused to acknowledge his poor elderly mother when she came to greet his ship upon his return to Brunei. As his mother cursed him for his unfilial behavior, a sudden storm capsized his ship, turning it into a stone outcrop known as Jong Batu in the Brunei River. The rock formation resembles a sinking ship with its bow protruding from the water, serving as a permanent reminder of the consequences of disrespecting one's parents
