Nang Tani (นางตานี)
Nang Tani (นางตานี) is a Thai female spirit of the banana tree: she appears as a beautiful young woman who haunts wild banana groves, especially under a full moon. Generally kind, she protects those who respect the trees, but may be vengeful if the trees are cut; offerings are made before harvesting. Documented by Thai scholar Phya Anuman Rajadhon, she remains a living village belief.
