Ndi Mmili ('people of the water') are powerful Igbo water spirits dwelling in rivers and lakes. They embody life, fertility, beauty, and wealth; invoked for blessings during hardship. Female-centered cult; priestesses mediate. Distinct from Mami Wata though syncretized. Documented in Igbo cosmology and ethnography.
