Nereida
Neráïdes are the water nymphs of modern Greek folklore, heirs of the ancient Nereids: beautiful young women in white who sing at springs, wells and seashores and dance in moonlit rings. They can enchant, storm-call and drown the unwary, yet marry mortals under strict conditions. Georgios Megas' folktale collections (Tale Type 400) document their survival into Christian village tradition.
