Ngakola

deity · Central African Republic · Central Africa

Ngakola is the bush god of the Banda and Mandjia peoples of the Central African Republic. He is a spirit of the wilderness with a divine essence and vital force, able to answer the essential needs of human life: health, protection and education. Ngakola is not a distant or self-sufficient god; he requires offerings and sacrifices from his devotees in return for what they receive from him. The Banda and Mandjia occupy the centre and south-west of the Central African Republic.
