Ngirngemelas
Ngirngemelas is the trickster spirit of Palauan mythology, a shapeshifting figure who uses camouflage and illusion to test and outwit humans. One Palauan account links him to Ngibtal, the boy turned giant clam whose tears made the tides. His mischievous, elusive nature reminds listeners of the unpredictability of the natural world and of the wisdom in humility before it.
