Night Marchers (Huakai po)
The Night Marchers (huaka'i pō) are the ghostly processions of ancient Hawaiian warriors and chiefs who walk old trails and sacred sites, especially on moon phases tied to the gods Kū, Lono, Kāne, and Kanaloa. Marching with torches, drums, and conch blasts, they demand witnesses lie face down and avoid eye contact lest the spirits strike them down. The belief remains alive in modern Hawai'i.
