Nis Puk (also called Puge) is a household spirit from Sønderjylland and the Danish-German border region, a variant of the Nisse but with distinct traits. Nis Puk is short and broad, wears red trousers and a red pointed cap, and lives in the barn or stable of a farm. His special talent is stealing grain and fodder from neighboring farms to enrich his own host farm — a form of supernatural redistribution that made him popular with farmers but feared by neighbors.
