Nisse
The Nisse (Tomte, Tomtenisse, Tonttu) is a Nordic household spirit: small, human-like, gray-clad with a red pointed cap, dwelling in farmstead barns, stables, or under floorboards. Performs chores (threshing, animal care, carpentry) in exchange for a bowl of porridge (rømmegrøt or rice pudding) with butter on Christmas Eve.
