The Nix is a shape-shifting water spirit that inhabits the rivers and lakes of Switzerland. Similar to the Celtic kelpie, the Swiss Nix can assume multiple forms—most commonly a beautiful woman who lures men to watery deaths, but also a horse, fish, or even a log.
