Njayekoi
Njayekoi (also Njokoi) is the masked spirit of the Njayei society among the Mende of southern Sierra Leone. Njayei is a cult association with its own spiritual power (halei) used to diagnose various kinds of ritual pollution and to purify those who have incurred it; its sacred house is daubed with white, red and black spots, and its sculptures are typically a male and female pair. Njayekoi's mask is the society's spirit mask, and its form varies from place to place.
