Nokomis
Nokomis is the wise grandmother of Nanabozho in Ojibwe and Anishinaabe mythology. She raised Nanabozho after his mother died during childbirth. Nokomis is a figure of great wisdom and spiritual knowledge, often providing guidance and counsel to Nanabozho during his adventures. She is associated with the earth, the moon, and the nurturing aspects of nature. In some traditions, she is connected to Grandmother Moon and the cycles of women's lives. Her name simply means 'grandmother' in the Ojibwe language
