Nuku

ghost · Samoa · Pacific

In Samoan spirit belief, Nuku is a ghost (aitu) said to return from death to unfinished business, appearing as a translucent or shadowy figure, sometimes in the form of familiar animals. Encounters bring misfortune, illness, or accidents, and the spirit may be appeased through proper rituals and offerings. Belief in aitu is deeply rooted in Samoan culture.
