Nurikabe
Nurikabe is the 'wall-spirit' of Japanese folklore, an invisible barrier that blocks travelers on roads and paths at night, sometimes showing an old man's face in the wall. It may be dispelled by knocking three times or reciting a charm, and is occasionally benevolent, shielding walkers from danger. The yōkai explains puzzling detours and getting lost on familiar roads.
