Nyambe
Nyambe (Ňambe) is the supreme being of the Duala and related Bantu peoples of southern Cameroon. He is the first cause and creator of the universe and of everything it contains, and the generator of humankind. Nyambe is also called the father of the baweňa, the living, and of the bedimo, the dead. In Duala thought the living are pure and preserved from corruption, while the bedimo are the dead in the other world; the two categories stand in opposition and define the place of the ancestors.
