Nyame
Nyame (Onyame) is the supreme god of the Akan people (Ashanti, Fante, Akuapem) of Ghana. Also known as Nyankopon or Odomankoma, Nyame is the omniscient, omnipotent sky deity who created the universe and all living things. The name means "the one who knows and sees everything." Nyame is part of a trinity with Nyankopon (his life-giving power) and Odomankoma (his creative force). According to tradition, Nyame once lived on earth but withdrew to the heavens after being struck by a woman's pestle while pounding fufu.
