Nzambi Mpungu (meaning 'Creator of All') is the supreme god of the Kongo people, the eternal Sky Father and creator of the universe. In Kongo cosmology, the world began as an empty void called mbungi (an empty circle of nothingness). Nzambi Mpungu, with his female counterpart Nzambici, created a spark of fire called kalunga inside the void.
