Đào

fairy · Vietnam · Southeast Asia

The name Đào (peach) in Vietnamese tradition does connect to documented folklore: in Lĩnh Nam chích quái, peach branches ward off evil spirits, and peach is central to Tết New Year customs. However, the recorded figure of a beautiful mountain fairy named Đào who lures or guides travelers is not independently attested; it appears to be a spirit conflated from real peach-branch symbolism.
