Olapa (Rainbow Serpent)
Olapa is the moon goddess of Maasai cosmology, regarded as the wife of Enkai, the sky god and creator. In the best-known myth a quarrel ends with Enkai striking out one of her eyes, which is why the moon wanes each month and then slowly heals. The input's 'rainbow serpent' framing is a mislabel; Maasai tradition knows Olapa as the moon, not as a serpent.
