Oni
Oni (鬼) are the ogres or demons of Japanese folklore: large, fearsome beings with red, blue, or black skin, horns, sharp claws, and tiger-skin loincloths, often carrying iron clubs. They dwell in mountain fastnesses, punish the wicked, and cause disasters, yet also appear in protective roles. During Setsubun, people scatter roasted beans crying 'Oni wa soto!' to drive them from the home.
