Owl Deity of Mi'kmaq
No owl deity is recorded in Mi'kmaq tradition. The Mi'kmaq know the owl as kokokwes, a name drawn from the barred owl's calling, and in the celestial story of the stars the Owl is one of the hunters who pursues the Great Bear across the night sky. But the owl is never a god.
