Owl Trickster of Cherokee
No owl trickster exists in Cherokee folklore. In Mooney's Myths of the Cherokee the owls appear in 'The Bird Tribes' as embodied ghosts and disguised witches, the dusky horned owl being called tskïlï, 'witch,' with their cries read as omens of death. Cherokee trickster roles belong to Rabbit and Possum, not the owl.
