Owl Giant of Tlingit

giant · United States · North America

No owl giant exists in Tlingit tradition. The documented Tlingit owl figure comes from the story of the Kîksa'dî woman who was turned into an owl after mistreating her mother-in-law; her owl cry thereafter warns of bad weather and bad news. The owl is a transformed woman and omen-bird, never a giant.
