Pārī
The pari, or peri, is a Persian winged spirit of radiant beauty, born of fire yet gentle and luminous. Early Persian belief classed the paris among the evil spirits of the dark, but in Islamic-period lore they grew into benevolent beings who dwell in hidden, shimmering palaces and mingle with mortals in love and art. They stand in sharp contrast to the ugly, brutish divs.
