Pangkarlangu
Pangkarlangu are fearsome child-stealing monsters of Warlpiri Jukurrpa (Dreaming) stories from Australia's Western and Central Desert. Huge, hairy beings without necks and with sharp claws, they seize children by the legs and carry them off to eat, and their presence marks dangerous desert places. The tale 'The Pangkarlangu and the Lost Child' teaches children to stay near camp and obey elders.
