Pautiwa (chief of Kachinas)
Pautiwa (Pawtiwa) is the most important of the Pueblo kachina spirits, a sun deity who rules over all the other kachinas. Chiefly revered among the Zuni, he presides over the kachina priesthood and the kachina village where the spirits dwell, holding the highest position in the Zuni ceremonial world and leading the kachina dancers of the Shalako cycle.
