Peris
Peris are winged fairy-like spirits from Persian mythology, adopted into Pakistani folklore via Persianate influence. Originally ambiguous in pre-Islamic belief, they became beautiful, morally complex beings in mountains and waterfalls. They abduct humans to Peristan and oppose the ugly divs. In Pakistani tradition, they haunt high mountain lakes, sometimes benevolent, sometimes mischievous.
