Phi Khao
Phi Khao, Thai ผีเขา, are mountain spirits of Thai animist belief, guardians of forests and uplands said to appear as an old man or woman. Together with phi pa, the forest spirits, they protect game and groves and are honoured before hunting or clearing land; the Phi Pan Nam range even carries their name, 'the mountains where spirits divide the waters.'
