Phi Phong
Phi Phong (ผีโพง), also called Phi Pao in northeast Thailand, is a ghost born of failed black magic: whoever raises the wan phi phong herb without completing the rite is consumed and becomes a phantom. By day it seems an ordinary person; at night a flame glows from its nose and it feeds on filth—frogs, dung, corpses, afterbirth. Its saliva spreads the condition, and it eludes humans.
