Phi Phraya
Phi Phraya (also rendered Phi Phrai, ผีพราย) is a Thai water ghost or water spirit said to live in and control bodies of water—rivers, canals, lakes—and to lure, trouble, or drown people; some believe it is the spirit of a drowned person. Old folk say no one swims at night because a phi phraya dwells in the water. The name can also mean the shimmer on the water's surface.
