Nang Phisuea Samud (Thai: นางผีเสื้อสมุทร) is a powerful sea ogress from the Thai national epic Phra Aphai Mani by Sunthorn Phu. She is a giant ogress of the deep ocean who kidnapped Prince Aphai Mani after hearing his enchanted flute playing. Despite her terrifying appearance as a sea monster, she fell deeply in love with the prince and kept him imprisoned in her undersea cave palace for eight years. During this time, she bore him a son named Sin Samudr. The story explores themes of love across boundaries — the ogress loves genuinely but cannot overcome her predatory nature. She was ultimatel
